The Empty Bowl

The sun rose on two figures utterly alone on a cracked mesa. A vulture passing overhead had almost passed them by, so still were they standing. She circled back and judged that soon they would be joining the ghosts and the desert wind.

She landed on an outcrop above them and bided her time. In the distance, a miracle unfolded in the form of other travellers in that lonely place. They were far away, but heading in her direction. They moved quickly, which meant that soon they would no longer be moving. Exciting stuff. She stretched her tattered wings and hurried toward the rushing ones. Below, the older of the two looked up at the diving buzzard and said three words: “We must hurry.”

The songs on Hunted Spotted Splintered Rotted mark pursuit, rooms where hope lives, and surfaces that split and betray, all under the steady gaze that catalogues decay as process. The world is intimate, damaged, and uncomfortably alive.

Dry as a Funeral Drum

First single from Hunted Spotted Splintered Rotted

The train carrying strangers exploded, and the blackness outside slammed into the cabin. Juno was hurled through the twisting confusion, pushed and pulled as the wreck pitched around her. She looked up at the man almost lifting her overhead through the near-total dark. Loud snarls rushed in their direction. “Take her.” Then she was passed into a swarm of grabbing hands. The last thing she saw, looking back, was the man charging the way he had come, straight into the claws of a yawning abomination.
